«Use as a thermostat» feature

Livi Relay, Livi Relay 12/24 and Livi Socket can be used to control electric heating systems (e.g. a boiler or a heater)
Install the Livi Relay behind the household outlet, in which the heater will be plugged in, or plug the heater into the Livi Socket, if you want the heater to be controlled automatically. Connect the Livi Relay or voltage-free («dry») contacts of the Livi Relay 12/24 to relay contacts of the boiler. The presence of such contacts and the required relay type can be checked in the technical documentation for the boiler. These contacts can be designated in different ways: for example, an output for the connection of the external or room thermostat, the external or room temperature controller or the thermostat regulator.

The relay or the smart socket can control the heating system in two modes:

  1. Turning on and off heating at the command of the user. The command can be given through the mobile app or using the Livi Key Fob remote control.
  2. Turning on and off heating automatically in the thermostat mode. The relay or the smart socket will turn on and off heating to maintain the desired temperature according to the readings of the Livi TS temperature sensor or of the Livi HTS temperature sensor.
The operating mode of the relay / smart socket changes when you enable / disable the Use as a thermostat feature. Take it into account if the relay / smart socket is added to scripts (to some lists of conditions or actions). When you enable / disable the Use as thermostat feature, deactivate or change those scripts that will lose their relevance with the new operating mode of the relay / smart socket.
Open the relay / socket settings screen and slide the Use as thermostat switch to the right in order to switch the relay / smart socket to the thermostat mode.

The relay / socket settings screen will display additional settings: Desired temperature and Temperature sensor.

Tap on Change in the Desired temperature line on the relay / socket settings screen to set the desired temperature.

Select the temperature that should be maintained at the site. Tap SET to return to the relay / socket settings screen.
      Temperature setting
The desired temperature will be maintained. The relay / socket will automatically turn on and off the heating system to keep the temperature at the set level (see below for details). If the relay / socket is added as an action to the script with a defined timer, the relay / socket will maintain the desired temperature which is set in the script while the timer is counting down. When the timer expires, the relay / socket will return to maintaining the temperature which is set in the relay / socket settings screen.
Tap on Change in the Temperature sensor line on the relay / socket settings screen to select the Livi TS temperature sensor whose readings will be used to control the heating system.

The system will compile a list of all Livi TS temperature sensors which are bound to the hub of the site.

Select the preferred temperature sensor and tap on the arrow to return to the relay / socket settings screen
          Select the temperature sensor
The relay / socket will control the heating system according to the following principle:

          • If the temperature is at least 0,5 °C lower than the desired one, the relay / socket will turn on and its status on the settings screen will change to Heats up.
          • if the temperature is at least 0,5 °C higher than the desired one, the relay / socket will turn off and its status on the settings screen will change to Cools down.

Example: You set the desired temperature to + 25 °C. When the temperature readings of the Livi TS drops to 24 °C, the socket turns on and the heating system starts working. The relay / socket turns off the heating as soon as the temperature readings reaches +26 °C.
